Province of Antwerp
Province of Antwerp

Antwerp is a province in the north of Belgium, situated in the Flemish Region. It shares borders with The Netherlands and with the provinces East-Flanders, Limburg and Flemish-Brabant.
Antwerp’s capital is the harbour city also called Antwerp, the biggest city in Flanders. There is often some real competition between Antwerp and other centrally located cities such as Mechelen and Turnhout. The province has 1,8 million inhabitants for its 2.867 km², making it one of the most densely populated areas in the country.
If you prefer to relax near to home, you can go visit the opera or the Stadsschouwburg in Antwerp, the Zimmertoren in Lier or the world renowned Tomorrowland in Boom. The provincial domain De Schorre also has some lovely nature scenery, just like de De Kempen.
The city of Antwerp has De Schelde running through it, while other towns in Antwerp have De Dijle and De Nete as rivers. By car, you’ll find the E19, A12, E313, E17 or E34 to be useful for getting around, but watch out for the traffic jams! Getting to Brussels, Mechelen and Zaventem is easy and fast by train.
