Ixelles (Elsene) is a municipality located in the Brussels-Capital Region. It is situated towards the south-east of the inner ring road. The municipality of Ixelles is served by three railway stations as well as the Brussels public transport services (Metro, trams and buses). With a population of 84,000, Ixelles is home to famous districts such as Flagey, Châtelain and the campuses of Université Libre de Bruxelles and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The Ixelles Ponds and the art deco building formerly known as the Maison de la Radio are just a few examples of some of the masterpieces located in the municipality, which is also home to numerous cultural venues such as Théâtre Marni and Théâtre de la Toison d'Or. The company Solvay had its historic head office in Ixelles until 2011. As Ixelles is situated close to the centre of Brussels, it offers a mixture of townhouses and large apartments, the reference price of which tends to be high.
