Etterbeek is one of the nineteen municipalities located in the Brussels-Capital Region, and borders the municipalities of the City of Brussels, Ixelles, Auderghem, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and Schaerbeek. With the possibility for relaxation in this area, Etterbeek is home to over 45,000 people, including many European bureaucrats, making it one of the most upper-crust municipalities in the capital. Nature-lovers can enjoy Jardin Jean-Félix Hap, Parc de Fontenay-sous-Bois and Square Frère-Orban. Part of Parc du Cinquantenaire is in the district of Etterbeek, much to the delight of a great many Etterbeek residents. The municipality is served by three Metro stops (Mérode, Thieffry and Pétillon), as well as trains, trams and several bus routes. In terms of accommodation within the municipality, houses and apartments are expensive, as is the case in most of the municipalities in the Region.
