Flemish-Brabant is a province that is centrally located in the Flemish Region. At its center, you’ll find the Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium’s capital.
Flemish-Brabant’s capital is Leuven, the fourth biggest city in Flanders. Vilvoorde and Dilbeek are the only other cities with more than 40.000 inhabitants, but Halle, Tienen, Diest and Aarschot are also cities to be reckoned with. Flemish-Brabant has nearly 1,1 million inhabitants on its’ 2.106 km² area.
If you like music, Flemish-Brabant will treat you well. Rock Werchter has its world renowned festival here every year. In the green area surrounding Brussels and Het Hageland you can comfortably ride your bike or Vespa. If you’re having a look around, why not visit the Averbode Abbey, the Grand Beguinage or Museum M in Leuven, Het Kasteel van Horst, the MIRA or the Royal Museum for Central-Africa in Tervuren.
There are quite a few rivers running through Flemish-Brabant, notably De Gete, Zenne, Demer and Dender. You’ll find tens of thousands of cars running through it as well, mainly on the E40 and on the Brussels Ring R0. There are bus (De Lijn) and train (NMBS) connections to all the other bordering provinces.
