Koekelberg is one of the nineteen municipalities located in the Brussels-Capital Region. Situated to the west of Brussels, it borders the municipalities of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, Jette, Sint-Agatha-Berchem and Ganshoren. Easily accessible, it possesses several Metro stations and numerous bus and tram stops. Nature-lovers can enjoy Parc Elisabeth which lies at the centre of this municipality, which has a population of nearly 21,000. Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB) has one of its campuses in the municipality of Koekelberg, and there are also numerous other educational establishments for younger students. The Brussels public aquarium was also opened in Koekelberg in 2005, an aquatics centre enabling the public to discover the underwater world. As in most of the municipalities in the Brussels-Capital Region, property prices are relatively high.
