Limburg is a province in the Northeast of Belgium in the Flanders Region. It shares borders with Holland, as well as with the provinces of Antwerp, Flemish-Brabant and Liège. The town of Voeren is an enclave between Liège and Dutch Limburg.
Limburg’s capital is Hasselt, the biggest city in the province. The runners-up are Genk, followed by Beringen and Sint-Truiden. The major rivers in the province are De Schelde and De Maas, with some small affluent rivers like De Jeker and De Gete. Using the E313 and E314 makes it easy to get around. You can use the E40 as well. Where public transport is concerned, Hasselt is well known for its free De Lijn busses. The train will help you get to Liège and Maastricht quite quickly.
Limburg is known as heaven on earth for cyclists and the countryside feel and culture makes up a large part of its tourism. You can enjoy wonderful local produce like Limburgse fland, Hasseltse jenever or syrup from Borgloon. The shopping enthusiasts can visit Genk, Sint-Truiden or Maasmechelen Shopping Village
