Sint-Genesius-Rode is a municipality in Flanders, in the province of Flemish Brabant, but it is also a municipality with language facilities. Sint-Genesius-Rode is south of Brussels, bordering on Waterloo and less than 15 kilometres from the centre of Brussels. Given its location just north of Wallonia, this municipality, which has a population of 18,000, is largely French-speaking. One of the reasons for this is the large-scale exodus of Brussels residents over recent decades. The districts of Petite Espinette, Espinette-Centrale and Grande Espinette lie along Chaussée de Waterloo and are the most famous areas of Sint-Genesius-Rode. The population is very wealthy and property prices have been rising steadily for many years. Property prices in the municipality of Sint-Genesius-Rode are considered high, with an average price of over EUR 300,000.
