Molenbeek (nl: Sint-Jans-Molenbeek) is one of the nineteen municipalities located in the Brussels-Capital Region, not far from the centre of the city. This municipality is situated on the other side of the Brussels-Charleroi Canal, which at this point demarcates the inner ring road. With a population of 95,000, this municipality of 5.89 km² houses industrial premises in the south. In the north, Sint-Jans-Molenbeek comprises a residential area in an urban landscape, bordered by large green spaces, which will delight nature lovers. The municipality is also home to an architectural masterpiece in the form of the Château du Karreveld, which has become a public park and which also lends its name to a district. Molenbeek-Saint-Jean is accessible via all the capital's public transport services: buses, trams and the Metro.
